There are also more traditional DOS-based BIOS-flashing tools. The process for entering a UEFI setup screen can be a bit different. You generally access the BIOS screen by pressing the appropriate key while your computer boots-it’s often displayed on the screen during the boot process and will be noted in your motherboard or PC’s manual. From there, you choose the BIOS-updating option, select the BIOS file you placed on the USB drive, and the BIOS updates to the new version. You copy the BIOS file to a USB drive, reboot your computer, and then enter the BIOS or UEFI screen.
Some manufacturers offer a BIOS-flashing option directly in their BIOS, or as a special key-press option when you boot the computer.
The BIOS update’s included README file should recommend the ideal option for your hardware. You’ll need to choose one of several different types of BIOS-flashing tools, depending on your motherboard and what it supports. This is an ideal retro-gaming platform. The BIOS version number is displayed on the System Summary pane. While this system will crawl with even win7, on xp it would be quite nice and on 98se would be a monster. I have systems of this era and they're 'in betweeners'-not upgradeable enough to step into even the lowest part of modern computing, and at the same time silly fast for the previous generation of computing. More than likely the memory limit is just because that's what the specs said, but if you put in period correct modules, you may be able to use more than 2GB of ram since a lot of the aftermarket boards with the same chipset could support 4GB (as well as a faster 1333fsb). You could be the first, but if budgets are tight, better to go with what is known. Unfortunately, no one has ever tested this. Now, if the true fsb limit is 1066 or 1333, that changes things as you can get faster dual core processors and maybe even a quad core.
